Tsuji Shion was writing poems and song lyrics at the young age of 15 but it was when playing a guitar did she begin to learn how to write music. At the same time, she dropped out of high school in her first year and moved to Tokyo to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. In autumn of 2007, Tsuji self-produced the music for a commemorative event for 200 people, with her performance, Tsuji finally drew the attention of Sony Music. In 2008, she signed with DefSTAR Records and made her debut with the single Candy kicks. She was also dubbed the next YUI as she debuted during her hiatus, as well as having a history that is strikingly similar to her.
