Thursday, June 13, 2013

It has been decided that Perfume will be invited to the “Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity,” which will be held in Cannes, France from 16th to 22nd June. They will be the first Japanese artists to be received as guests at this festival.

The “Cannes Lions” are one of the three major advertisement awards in the world along with the “One Show” and the “Clio Awards.” It is a prestigious festival that celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The name that remained valid up to 2010, the “Cannes International Advertising Festival,” was changed last year with a view to celebrate a wider range of communication media in the festival.

The highlight of the festival is expected to be the seminar slated on June 20th in which Daito Manabe will be making an appearance. He has been involved in many projects for Perfume, including the official “Perfume Global Website”–the website for the overseas promotion of Perfume–and in directing their holographic live performance. With expectations running high for a surprise appearance by Perfume at the seminar, Manabe will be introducing to creators from around the world a highly advanced fusion of entertainment and digital art seen lately in Japan.
